Volunteers needed to recycle wreaths
FAYETTEVILLE — Volunteers are needed to help recycle wreaths from Fayetteville National Cemetery. The Wreaths Across America event placed hundreds of evergreen wreaths honoring veterans at national cemeteries all over the country in December. Volunteers gathered the wreaths in January. The recycling event will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. until finished Saturday at the Arkansas National Guard Armory, 3590 S. School Ave. Volunteers are asked to dress warmly, bring work gloves, a chair and hand tools such as pliers, wire cutters and long-handle screwdrivers. The wreaths will be used for compost, and the wiring will be collected for recycling. Any proceeds from the event will be donated to the Regional National Cemetery Improvement Corp. for land purchases for the cemetery.
