Event benefits charity
Everett Big Bass Tournament benefiting Pagnozzi Charities is from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 22 at Beaver Lake out of Prairie Creek park. Entry fee is $60 per angler. Hourly prizes are awarded. Kester tops Elite field
Kevin Kester won the Beaver Lake Elite Series bass tournament held April 1 at Beaver Lake. He had five bass weighing 18.22 pounds. Jeremy Claypool was second with five bass at 17.77 pounds. Tim Clark placed third with five bass at 17.35 pounds. Wes Usrey had big bass at 5.7 pounds. Clark had second place big bass at 5.6 pounds. Fourth through 10th, all with five bass, were: fourth, Mike Hubbard, 16.69; fifth, David Louks, 15; sixth, Eric Douthit, 14.62; seventh, Caleb Baker, 14.44; eighth, Wes Paulin, 14.43; ninth, Drew Sagely, 14.31; 10th, Wes Usrey, 14.19.
Usrey wins tournament
Wes Usrey won the Cast Masters bass tournament at Beaver Lake on April 2 with five bass that weighed 14.37 pounds. David Louks and Collin Cheatham placed second with five bass also at 14.37 pounds, but Usrey had a larger big bass for the win. Grant Hanby and Phil Hanby placed third with five bass at 14.21 pounds. Jeremy Mounce had big bass of the tournament at 6.15 pounds. Fish were caught on a variety of lures, including Alabama rigs, spinner baits and crank baits, said tournament director Johnny Brewer.
Hikers to trek dogwood tour
Ozark Highlands Trail Association dogwood tour hike is Saturday. The hike is seven miles, rated difficult, from Shores Lake to White Rock Mountain and back. All hikers are welcome. Meet at 8:15 a.m. at Mountain Man Supplies and Pawn and Arvest Bank parking area on South School Street in Fayetteville to car pool. Or meet at the Shores Lake trailhead between 9:30 and 10 a.m. Hikers may see dogwood and redbud trees in bloom, plus wildflowers and a waterfall. Bring water and lunch.
