Northwest Arkansas is getting bigger, but its roots are still in rural farmers who lived before Walmart and Tyson Foods put the area on the map.
Many people prefer the tradition of getting their foods straight from local farmers, so they prefer to partake in the local farmers markets that are abundant in the area.
The Fayetteville Farmers Market is probably the most well known, with it still being held on the iconic Fayetteville Square, although other farmers markets take place in Fayetteville in the Mill District, at the Botanical Garden of the Ozarks and at its newest location at the Jefferson Center.
It offers local vendors with fresh fruits, vegetables, meats, cheeses, eggs, baked goods, honey, jams and even herbs and herb plants.
Market managers and vendors emphasize locally produced, fresh ingredients for maximum nutrition.
